Chevo's Charitable Givings
Charitable Giving Overview
Chevo Consulting believes it's important to give back to our community and beyond, whether it's through local organizations, national ones, or global efforts in the case of disaster relief groups.
We have a two-pronged approach to charitable giving. The first is through a program we have instituted called Jeans for Charity Fridays: each quarter a new charity, chosen by staff, gets donations from employees in exchange for wearing jeans on Fridays, and to extend employee contributions Chevo matches the entire collected donation dollar for dollar.
We also have annual charitable programs in which we participate, which may involve collecting monetary donations or tangible goods. These programs include:
Goodwill: "Goodwill® works to enhance the dignity and quality of life of individuals and families by strengthening communities, eliminating barriers to opportunity, and helping people in need reach their full potential through learning and the power of work." Chevo holds a tangible goods drive in the January/February time-frame, including collecting gently used clothing and household items for donation.
Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation: Brought to our attention by the diagnoses and subsequent treatment of two colleagues' children, Chevo has now donated to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation for multiple years. From their website:
"The Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation is a national voluntary health nonprofit that works to eliminate the challenges of childhood brain tumors. As the world’s largest non-governmental source of funding for childhood brain tumor research, our mission is to cure the kids."
Leukemia and Lymphoma Society: This charity was brought to our attention due to the illness and subsequent passing of a colleague, and is part of our annual participation and giving.
"The mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. LLS is the world's largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer. LLS funds lifesaving blood cancer research around the world and provides free information and support services. Our Key Priorities will ensure that: The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society helps blood cancer patients live better, longer lives."
Manna Food Center: "Founded in 1983, Manna Food Center strives to end hunger in Montgomery County through education, advocacy, and food distribution. Since our founding, Manna has distributed more than 43 million pounds of food to more than 2.7 million individuals in our community. We provided food to 5% of Montgomery County residents facing the hardship hunger this past year." Chevo collects food through November, delivering them in early December.
Toys for Tots: "The mission of the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community in which the campaign is conducted." Chevo collects toys through the first few weeks of December.
Finally, we also consider national and international relief efforts as they arise and have made contributions to global organizations. Visit our individual pages to see the number of charities to which both Chevo and its employees have donated.
