Jeans for Charity: Susan G. Komen Foundation: "Since 1982, Komen has played a critical role in every major advance in the fight against breast cancer – transforming how the world talks about and treats this disease and helping to turn millions of breast cancer patients into breast cancer survivors. Today, Susan G. Komen is the boldest community fueling the best science and making the biggest impact in the fight against breast cancer. Thanks to events like the Komen Race for the Cure, we have invested almost $2 billion to fulfill our promise, working to end breast cancer in the U.S. and throughout the world through ground-breaking research, community health outreach, advocacy and programs in more than 50 countries. " Make-A-Wish Foundation: "Wishes are more than just a nice thing A wish experience can be a game-changer for a child with a life-threatening medical condition. This one belief guides us in everything we do at Make-A-Wish®. It inspires us to grant wishes that change the lives of the kids we serve. It compels us to be creative in exceeding the expectations of every wish kid. It drives us to make our donated resources go as far as possible.... Wishes impact everyone involved - wish kids, volunteers, donors, sponsors, medical professionals and communities. The impact varies. For wish kids, just the act of making their wish come true can give them the courage to comply with their medical treatments. Parents might finally feel like they can be optimistic. And still others might realize all they have to offer the world through volunteer work or philanthropy." Wounded Warrior Project: "Mission: To foster the most successful, well-adjusted generation of wounded service members in our nation's history. Goals: To raise awareness and enlist the public's aid for the needs of injured service members; to help injured service members aid and assist each other; and to provide unique, direct programs and services to meet the needs of injured service members." Montgomery County Humane Society: "The Montgomery County Humane Society is the largest animal welfare organization in Montgomery County, providing shelter and care to thousands of homeless animals every year. We offer a full range of services including foster care, rescue network placements, adoption counseling, behavior seminars, bereavement support, humane education, community outreach, volunteer training and much more. Our mission also includes public education on topics including the importance of spaying and neutering, animal behavior and training, responsible pet ownership, emergency preparedness, and protecting wildlife. We work with all ages -– from preschoolers to adults -– to help local citizens create a fulfilling, lifelong bond with their pets and respect for all animals." Other: Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief: When the earthquake and subsequent tsunami hit Japan in 2011, Chevo responded to an outpouring of employee good will by setting up a matching program of all donations made by Chevo employees and then adding additional dollars to help in aiding Japan. |
